civic engagement
voting for the environment

We believe that one of the most important things you can do for the environment is vote...because our elected officials set the policies that protect our air, water, and the health of our communities.
But environmental issues are rarely at the top of the list when voters are asked what issues they are voting on. And we know that members of environmental and allied community groups are not voting much more frequently than the average North Carolinian.
So CCNCF prioritizes making sure that people who care about the environment are voting through our non-partisan voter participation projects.
Our non-partisan projects are informed by the wealth of knowledge and experience garnered nationally about how to effectively move environmental supporters to vote. In NC, we work jointly with environmental and allied organizations to target our friends with direct mail and some phone calls to encourage them to vote. We specifically encourage our friends to vote early as this encourages more consistent civic engagement.
