Our Work
Programs and Projects:
Environmental Enforcement Campaign works with other environmental groups, citizens, and state agencies to improve enforcement of existing environmental regulations. Currently, we are prioritizing a joint effort to keep sediment, the number one source of non-point source pollution, out of our waterways through the Muddy Water Watch project.
Civic Engagement & Voter Participation programs expand the number of citizens who are active, engaged, and informed so that more people prioritize environmental issues at the ballot box. These activities are non-partisan.
Capacity Building: The List Enhancement project provides state of the art civic and demographic information for allied groups to effectively engage their base in their work. This service helps build the capacity of our allied organizations so that we can more effectively engage people who care about North Carolina’s environment. We also help our partner groups to better understand how they can legally engage in non-partisan ways in the democratic process.
Outreach & Citizen Engagement: Building a base of activists who identify with environmental and other allied issues. We are working with the League of Conservation Voters Education Fund on the Heat is On Campaign to engage citizens, media, and national decision-makers on climate change issues.
NC Common Agenda: Priorities for the Environment seeks to convey a unified front to state legislators about the key legislative priorities of the environmental community. CCNCF leads a strategic process with the broader environmental community to prioritize key issues that we collectively agree on so that we can more effectively elevate environmental issues and affect change in environmental policy-making. Our goal is to enable our community to set a pro-active environmental agenda, and achieve success on environmental issues in the face of well-powered opposition. CCNC Foundation and CCNC work with our Common Agenda partners to advocate for these priorities each Session.
