The Conservation Council of NC (CCNC) is a statewide lobbying organization dedicated to advocating on behalf of North Carolina's environment. (Under the IRS code, CCNC is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization.) What We Do:
Whether at the legislature or before state commissions, CCNC tackles issues that show up in your own community. We are unique because we give voice to individuals and organizations across North Carolina in making state policies and laws. By bringing the resources of individuals together, we can maintain a full-time presence where decisions are being made. We can react quickly and independently to environmental threats specific to North Carolina because we are a statewide group responsible only to our members. We work on the issues that concern you. Our vision for the future of North Carolina is that we will all better understand and appreciate North Carolina's unique natural environment, actively work to protect it, and will take responsibility for creating better public policy through the efforts of CCNC and others. We hope that these efforts, combined with the efforts of individuals and groups across the state, will guarantee that all North Carolinians will have the opportunity to experience the power and beauty of our natural treasures [top] Past, Present, & Future:CCNC has been working to protect North Carolina's environment and our citizen's health for 35 years. From the new River in the west, to bald Head Island in the east, CCNC has fought to preserve the treasures of our state for future generations and ensure that our citizens have a better quality of life. From nuclear power plants to pollution prevention, clean water to clean air, CCNC is fighting for you. Our agenda is dynamic, evolving to meet new challenges and constantly seeking opportunities to promote a better environment for all of North Carolina. Our efforts range from:

Blount St. in Raleigh - within walking distance of the legislature! Conservation Council of NC Board of Directors: President - Nina Szlosberg, Raleigh Nan Freeland was a long time friend and Board member. She passed away in November 2004, and will be sorely missed. The Conservation Council Board passed the following resolution in her honor.
